About Us

The Centre for Research, Innovation and Entrepreneurship is a special initiative at MIET driving applied research through innovative projects. It is a one-of-its-kind multi-disciplinary research centre in the state of J&K. One of the major aims of the CRIE is to promote student-driven innovation by addressing important domain-specific challenges and technical problems. Promoting entrepreneurship through the in-house Technology Business Incubator (TBI) under MSME, Govt. of India is also a priority area. The vision of CRIE is to be recognised as a centre of excellence in research and innovation.

CRIE builds on a proven research and innovation track-record at MIET with 15 patents filed, 2 IT-products incubated and 450+ research papers published. Some of the major areas that CRIE is working on are Software-Defined Networking, Internet-of-Things (IoT), Web-Mashups, Learning Management, Data Analytics, Machine Learning, Smart Applications, Digitisation and Automation, Strategic Management, Consumer Behaviour and Business Intelligence.

Advanced Secure Messaging Application

Advanced Secure Messaging Application (ASMA) which alleviates the shortcomings of existing message sharing applications. ASMA provides several first-of-its-kind features including veracity-checking of shared information, moderation of group content, user-consent in group formation, automatically detecting and flagging inappropriate content, fine-grained message-level security, access and sharing policies.

Driver Drowsiness Detection System

The purpose of this project is to detect the drowsiness in drivers to prevent accidents ensure road safety. Real-time face detection is implemented to locate the driver’s face region. The eye blink of the driver is detected. If the driver's eyes remain closed for more than a certain period of time, the driver is said to be drowsy and an alarm is sounded. The programming is done in python language and Open CV using the Haar cascade library for the detection of facial features.

Resource Reservation System

Resource Reservation System ensures hassle free requesting and reservation of resources like labs, seminar-hall,etc., their addition, updating and deletion of resources as well as postponing. Users will be given role based access control where some will be able to book particular resources only. It features a booking status bar, user dashboard, multidimensional dashboard showing the analytics of the resources and events.

Image Based Asset Management System

Image Based Asset Management System uses AI tools to recognize and categorize assets like laptops, chairs, projectors etc. It also geo-tags, generates QR-code and maintains asset history. It simplifies one of the most complex processes of maintaining, auditing and tracking the high value items. It also provides comfort to the external auditors as it automates the physical verification and establishes strong audit trail.

Blockchain Based Land Revenue Record Management

Blockchain Based Revenue Record Management is a novel approach to decentralize the land records that are held by the government and ensure that the records are not in any way forged or manipulated. It also caters the need to get various documents regarding ones land and online transfer of property. Also Citizen as well as Government Revenue department find the land location and land details by giving a proper coordinate’s or point on a map.


An educational institution or any business organization issues many certificates, official letters to its students, employees etc. in physical/digital form. However, these documents can be easily forged and manipulated. The proposed system issues e-certificates and e-documents to employees, generating a unique DOI for each certificate/document and imprinting it on the document which can then be verified by any external third-party. Role-Based Access Control policies ensure that only authorized functionaries within an organization can issue relevant official documents. Further, audit trail maintained by the proposed invention ensures that all transactions in the system are recorded in encrypted form to prevent misuse within the organization. Thus, manipulation or forgery of such documents is prevented and management of official documents is simplified.

Message Authenticity System

Mobile message sharing applications such as whatsapp, hike messenger etc. have facilitated the exchange of text and multimedia messages at an unprecedented scale. However, these applications also facilitate the sharing of incorrect information or even malicious information which can cause widespread panic or manipulate public opinion. We propose a system and method enabling users to verify the authenticity of messages received through message sharing applications. The proposed invention builds a hierarchical database of authentic information through mining a multitude of trusted sources on the internet and social media feeds. The database is structured region-wise and category-wise to enable quick lookup of keywords/phrases parsed from the message forwarded by the user and based on the location of the user. Based on the degree of matches found, an authenticity index for the forwarded message is computed and returned to the user. The user can choose to forward the authenticated message to her contacts with the appended authenticity index thereby helping prevent the spread of misinformation. The proposed invention also allows users to share information sources with the system to help update the database of authentic information after verification and improve system accuracy in a collective manner.

Gnosis Knowledge Management

The project pertains to an IT-based system for facilitating knowledge enhancement of students by creating a pervasive learning environment through in- campus and off-campus interventions. High quality content inputs are provided through automated web-based mashup tools and human domain experts to a cloud-based knowledge management system, which distributes domain-specific content streams to designated knowledge servers catering to a particular institution. The content streams are specific to an institution and subscribed to by an institution based on the academic programmes it offers. These content streams are then distributed locally within the campus to electronic display boards which are connected wirelessly to the knowledge server. The content stream is visible to the student pervasively throughout the campus promoting sub-conscious learning and enhancement in knowledge without active participation. Content streams are also posted in a personalized manner to the various social networking platforms used by the target audience so that knowledge can be delivered pervasively beyond the classrooms.
